Dear Freedom of Information,

Thank you for this reply.

Just to avoid any ambiguity and please correct me where/if I am wrong, with one question requiring an internal review.

1. In this current academic year 3235 of 6134 students fund their studies from Student Finance England grants, is this correct?

2. 2899 students pay privately for their tuition, is this correct?

3. St Mary's University confirmed 3196 enrolments to Student Finance England by the 25th September 2020, is this correct?

4. To avoid any ambiguity to question 3, was it only 39 students who didn't have their enrolment confirmed by St Mary's University to Student Finance England by the 25th September 2020, or do you mean so far by the 4th November 2020 (the date of this FOI reply) that 3235 students have applied for a tuition fee loans from Student Finance England and 3196 have so far been successful in obtaining this Student Finance England funding in the academic year 2020/2021?

5. In regard to question 2 of my original FOI request and your reply. I would like to make an internal review of this question please.
If you can generate a report of 3196 of 3235 enrolments currently registered, how would you not be able to generate the number of enrolments processed by the 25th September 2020?
The method would simply involve St Mary's University counting the number of enrolments processed with Student Finance England by the 25th September 2020. In an age of technology this process would be a simple data processing exercise.

Given that a FOI request has an 18 hour limit or a £450 cost cap, adding up several thousand of enrolments processed by St Mary's University to Student Finance England would not exceed the cost cap.

Yours sincerely,

John Clark

Dear Freedom of Information Officer.

Despite endless communication, appeals and internal reviews, you have failed to provide the information that I have requested under the FOI act.

You are aware that I am assisting a student with a complaint regarding overcharging for accommodation during the first coronavirus lockdown and this case is set to be heard with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA) in the coming months.

I'm making a formal complaint to the ICO that your public body is refusing to answer my FOI requests in an attempt to not only hide this information from me but in an attempt to delay making this information available to the OIA to support the students case.

Yours sincerely,

John Clark.
