Bristol Parks department have been carrying out footpath renewal this Summer.
Could you please provide details on the following:
(1) during the footpaths work did the contractors or BCC find any contamination?
(2) if they did:
(2a) what was the contaminate?
(2b) how much material was contaminated?
(2c) how was the contaminated material identified on site?
(2d) how was the contaminated material disposed of?
(2e) does BCC have any idea what caused the contamination?
(2f) were the public or park users informed of the contamination?
(2g) what was the risk to a person or animal coming into contact with the contaminated material?
(2h) how long does BCC believe the contaminated material was in the park before it was discovered?

(2b) how much material was contaminated? 120 tons

(2c) how was the contaminated material identified on site? Through chemical analysis of material to be disposed of.

(2d) how was the contaminated material disposed of? Through a registered waste contractor

(2e) does BCC have any idea what caused the contamination? The material was in the sub-base of path.

(2f) were the public or park users informed of the contamination? No.

(2g) what was the risk to a person or animal coming into contact with the contaminated material? Material was removed from the park.

(2h) how long does BCC believe the contaminated material was in the park before it was discovered? Since the day the park was built and the formal paths laid out.
