Srrking confirmation that Story have been prevented finishing the tarmacadam roads on Eden Gate development

Anthony William COLES

Dear Carlisle City Council,

I am led to believe that the reason for the delay in finishing the tarmacadam service roads on the Story Eden Gate development is the reluctance of local government to ‘adopt them’ until such time as the large quantity of surplus ‘soil’ (now largely gone) and heavy plant have been removed from the site.

The reason quoted is that in the view of local government is that the heavy vehicle movements required present a risk to the structure / surface of the roads.

What is your Authority’s policy in such matters?

Is the above understanding is correct in this case?

How does this policy apply to Drawdykes lane and the footpaths (which cannot conceivably be subject to the above heavy vehicle movements)?

Yours faithfully

A W Coles MA. BSc (Hons) CEng. FIGM. FEI
