Spinal Centres - Budgets & Discharges (ref: TIM/2018)
Dear Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust,
I work for the Spinal Injuries Association, the leading national user-led charity supporting spinal cord injured people and their families.
Being a user led organisation SIA understand the challenges of living with a spinal cord injury. We strive to support all people living with SCI to access the services and support they need to stay healthy and live full, fulfilling and active lives.
Part of my role is to assist the Head of Public Affairs with FOI requests, such as the one that follows.
As a request under the Freedom of Information Act, please provide the following information in respect of the National Spinal Injuries Centre.
1. In each of the following years, how many bed days were lost due to delayed discharges from the centre?
(a) 2012/13;
(b) 2015/16;
(c) 2017/18.
For the purposes of this question, we are using the NHS’s definition of a delayed discharge which is:- A delayed transfer of care from acute or non-acute (including community and mental health) care occurs when a patient is ready to depart from such care and is still occupying a bed. This is counted from the first day.
2. In each of the following years, what was the centre’s total budget?
(a) 2012/13;
(b) 2015/16;
(c) 2017/18.
3. In each of the following years, what was the centre’s actual expenditure?
(a) 2012/13;
(b) 2015/16;
(c) 2017/18.
If you have any queries or require clarification on any of these questions, please contact me on 01908 694191 ext 220 or email me at [email address].
Thanks for your help with this request.
Yours faithfully,
Tim Nicholson
