Solihull - location of CCTV Cameras

The request was successful.

Dear Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council,

I am interested in local authority owned and operated CCTV cameras.

For each CCTV camera that is owned and/or operated by Solihull Council I would like the following data

Location – Responsible Directorate - Responsible department – whether it is currently operational

I would like this to be in a format that can be re-used, preferably comma separated variable (csv) format.

Once this request has been completed I would like you to add the resulting dataset to the authority's publication scheme, and keep it up-to-date in the future.

Thank you in advance. I'm very happy to discuss and assist in the successful publication of the data I am requesting.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Whitehouse

Dear Mr Whitehouse

Freedom of Information request – Ref 5257

I am writing in response to your enclosed request for information. Please
find attached a spreadsheet detailing all of the CCTV cameras that are
owned or operated by Solihull Council and Solihull Community Housing (Tabs
1 and 2). I have also attached two maps showing the location of CCTV
cameras in Solihull and Shirley Town Centres.

Please note that we are unable to supply this information in machine
readable format as requested as we do not currently hold it in this form
and it is not easily transferred into such a format.

Please also note that the location of three cameras has not been
disclosed. These are cameras on Industrial buildings owned by the Council
but leased out to the Private Sector. There is a public interest in
disclosure of the locations of cameras in public areas, however these
three cameras are on private property and it is felt that disclose would
not be in the public interest. In withholding the location the Council is
relying upon section 31(a) of the Freedom of Information Act which
provides an exemption from the need to release information where is would
be likely to prejudice the prevention or detection of crime.

I hope this information is of interest and assistance.  You may copy,
distribute, transmit, adapt or otherwise exploit any information disclosed
to you providing that you do so in accordance with the conditions which
can be found on the council’s website

Information, Business Transformation Directorate, Council House, Manor
Walk, Solihull, West Midlands B91 3QB or email [2][Solihull Borough Council request email].

Your request for an internal review should be submitted to us within 40
days of receipt by you of this response.  Any requests received after this
time will be considered at the discretion of the Corporate Information
Governance Manager.

If having exhausted the review process you are not content that your
request or review has been dealt with correctly, you have a further right
of appeal to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for a decision.
Generally, the ICO will not make a decision until you have exhausted the
complaints procedure provided by the council.  The Information
Commissioner can be contacted at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire, SK9 5AF, telephone: 01625 545 700, website:
