Sign outside Jane Austen College

Mae'r ymateb i'r cais hwn yn hwyr iawn. Yn ôl y gyfraith, ym mhob amgylchiad, dylai Norwich City Council fod wedi ymateb erbyn hyn. (manylion). Gallwch gwyno drwy yn gofyn am adolygiad mewnol.

Dear Norwich City Council,

There is a parking sign outside Jane Austen College in Colegate. It informs about pay/display and permit holders. It can be seen by looking at this link.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.633083...

I come into Norwich on some Monday mornings and if there is a space I park in this bay as I leave again before 8 o'clock. The sign says that's OK as there is no restriction from midnight Sunday until 8 a.m. Monday, but I've been told that it's permit holders only during those hours. But that definitely isn't what the sign says.

My request follows. What is the restriction midnight Sunday until 8 a.m. Monday?

Yours faithfully,

A Reeves

This three sentence answer has necessitated another request to Norwich City Council. It is titled Unclear Parking Sign Colegate Norwich. Dated 24 June.

FOI QUERIES, Norwich City Council

Dear Mr Reeves,

Please find below our response to your Freedom of Information request
regarding Unclear parking sign Colegate Norwich:

In accordance with DfT Guidance we try to keep wording on signage to a
minimum to avoid confusion. Experience has shown that the more complex you
make the description of the time periods, the more confused the average
motorist becomes, and consequently we aim to keep the wording as short as
possible. It may be that the wording could be better, but signs of this
nature have been in place around the City for some years, and there has
never been an issue with them, until you raised it. That suggests that the
sign is clear and the intent is understood by the public at large.
