I refer to your recent email dated 19/10/2018 requesting the following
information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”):
“Please provide details of the training, including any training materials,
and any other relevant information or guidelines or communications,
provided to SLC staff which relates to the ‘exceptional circumstances’
which could allow the payment of short notice cancellation / 'did not
attend' DSA funded support sessions.”
Response
I can confirm that the information that you have requested is not held by
the Student Loans Company Limited to the extent that there is no
documented guidance/communications/training materials which set out the
“exceptional circumstances” which could allow the payment of short notice
cancellation/missed DSA.
Staff within the Disabled Students’ Allowance (“DSA”) Team are advised to
refer to refer any cases where the supplier wishes to make a claim as an
exception to a specific member of staff who has the responsibility of
dealing with these requests. This person will review these and have the
knowledge of previous cases and will discuss each case with DSA management
in order to make a decision.
Internal review process
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review.
Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date
of receipt of the response to your original request and should be
addressed to the Freedom of Information Office, Student Loans Company

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
