Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear sir/madam;

I understand that sometime around June 2004, an organisation named Shechita UK submitted "the formal response of the Jewish Community to the Government’s Draft Response to the Farm Animal Welfare Council Report on the Welfare of Farmed Animals at Slaughter or Killing, Part 1: Red Meat Animals" to your department.

Please provide me with a copy of what you received.

Regards,
Steve Elibank

Dear Mr Benneworth,

I would like to receive the document in electronic format. Section 11 of the Freedom of Information Act requires you to oblige this preference if "reasonably practicable" - if you do not consider it reasonably practicable, please provide me with a detailed explanation, obviously within the statutory time-limit.

Yours sincerely,
Steve Elibank

Mr Elibank,

The document you requested was sent to Ben Bradshaw MP (a Minister in this Department at the time) in June 2004. We have located a hard copy of it, rather than an electronic copy of it.

As the document consists of nearly 200 pages (the text is single-sided), and it contains numerous graphics/illustrations/photos, it will take a long time to scan the document so that we can send it to you electronically. In addition, it would be a very large document to email to you. Therefore, we will not be sending the document to you electronically.

We have photocopied the document double-sided, so that it consists of nearly 100 pages. Please provide a full postal address for us to send it to.

Mr Elibank,

Further to my email of 13 April below, I am emailing to remind you that I need a full postal address in order to send the large document to you.

Dear Benneworth, Mark A (FFG-ANW),

I know that you want my full postal address. I have a good grasp of English, and fully understood your sentence, "Please provide a full postal address for us to send it to," which you send on April 13th. I do not need you to badger me for it.

In fact, I will not be providing my postal address, but rather I request an Internal Review about your handling of this case.

I have emailed Shechita UK myself, and received a copy of their submission, by email. It is a 17-page PDF file. I don't know what 200-page illustrated document you are referring to, but you are either mistaken or lying.

Your failure to provide the requested material by email is clearly illegal under Section 11 of the FOIA; an electronic copy is patently practicable, since I have received one from another source without any problems.

Please reply so I know that you are working on the Review.

Mr Elibank,

I do not carry out internal reviews. The annex to Geoff Webdale's letter of 12 April explained how you request an internal review - you need to write to Clive Porro at the address given.

Dear Benneworth, Mark A (FFG-ANW),

Under your statutory duty to provide advice and assistance to Freedom of Information applicants, please forward my request to Clive yourself.

I note that your department has done this on April 14th 2010, April 12th 2010 and July 9th 2009, so there should be absolutely no problem with your doing so now.

Please reply to confirm that you have passed my request for Internal Review to the appropriate person.

Yours sincerely,
Steve Elibank
