Dear Foi (NHS SOUTH, CENTRAL AND WEST COMMISSIONING SUPPORT UNIT),

Thank you for your responses so far; however I feel the spirit of my question is still unanswered. For clarity I will ask again with an example of a situation to which it applies, as well as answers given by other CCGs.

Do you comission/have provision for the movement of people in their own property for health reasons?

For example a patient that is approaching end of life and, following an MDT assessment it is agreed that the patient needs to be nursed on a hospital bed downstairs. The patient however is upstairs and due to their condition cannot be moved without considerable assistance ie using a carry chair.

I wish to know the provider of services for this situation ie. To move the person from upstairs to downstairs and the contract/ terms if applicable.

Other CCGs have disclosed that they contract individually with a variety of providers on a case by case basis, others that it is covered in the standard NHS PTS contract (static movement patients) and others have a contract with a private provider.

I hope this clarifies exactly the information I require and I look forward to your prompt reply.

Yours sincerely,
