Dear Official Solicitor,

Will you please advise whether or not there is a formal selection process for engaging a solicitor on behalf of a client who has lost mental capacity?

Will you please outline what is involved in this selection criteria? Is there a formal tendering process?

Do you assign files, based on an approved list of solicitors? If so, how many solicitors are on this list, and what is the criteria for qualifying them for this work, please?

Yours faithfully,

Angela Snodgrove
