School priority admission areas

Mike Thompson made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to North Yorkshire County Council as part of a batch sent to 19 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for Mike Thompson to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear North Yorkshire County Council,

I'm writing to ask whether you could provide me with the priority admission area data for all state schools (of all phases) within your local authority, which may be being used by a school catchment/priority area checker on your website.

I note that other local authorities publish this data publicly, like Hampshire County Council, Leeds City Council and Nottingham City Council.

It would be great if you could provide this information in an electronic, reusable format such as GeoJSON, KML or SHP.

I am asking for this in order to supplement a website I have created to help parents find out more about schools near them. You can see it here:
http://admissionsday.co.uk

Please do email me or call me on the number below if you wish to discuss this request, particularly if there are any complications that could lead to a refusal.

Yours faithfully,

Mike Thompson

Dear Mr Thompson

Thank you for your request for information regarding school priority
admission areas.  Our response is below:

Unfortunately at this present time, the authority does not hold this data
in the format that has been requested.  As an authority we have an
interactive map on the website which a parent can search or check their
catchment school based on their post code but the admissions priority data
is not linked to the map and is not held in a document format.  All
information in regard to admission criteria is available on the North
Yorkshire County Council Web site.
