School fires

The request was successful.

Dear London Fire Commissioner (London Fire Brigade),

I was wondering if you could provide a list of schools where a fire has occurred in London.

More importantly could you provide the following related to these school fires:
1. date the fire occurred
2. the school name
3. the school address
4. the cause of the fire
5. the extent of damage

Yours faithfully,

Grete Wilson

London Fire Brigade

Dear Grete,

London Fire Brigade

Dear Grete,

Thank you for your request, dated 30 December regarding incidents attended by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) involving fires in schools.

In response, I would like to direct you to the readily available information published on the London datastore. The LFB publishes details of all incidents and appliance attendance times on the London datastore, including a range of separate, specific incident data.

You can find the information for all incidents here: http://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/london..., including (but not limited to) the time the LFB was called, location data (post code and Borough) and also the type of incident attended (fire, special service, false alarm). For appliance mobilisations please click here: http://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/london... . This information dates back to January 2009 and it is our aim to update data on a monthly basis.

We provide additional, incident specific returns including datasets for primary fires in schools (nursery, infant/primary and secondary). The data specific to school fires can be found here: https://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/prima.... We will be updating that dataset for the remainder of 2018 (i.e. September to December) around March 2019, when all records for 2018 have been completed.

I ask you look at the information available to see if it meets your data needs. Should you have any questions as a result do let me know.

Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). If you are dissatisfied by this response you can request an internal review by writing to the Head of Information Management at the address below (or email [email address]).

Further information about your information rights (including how to raise a concern or make a complaint) is available from the Information Commissioner’s Office on their website at www.ico.org.uk or by writing to them at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Kind Regards,

James Sivell
