Dear Oli Killeen,

Thank you for your explanation and reference to Section 8(1) of the FOI Act 2000.

I would like to remind you that FOIs can be made under the name of an organisation and that it is still good practice for you to consider the request if the pseudonym is obvious.

Yours sincerely,

No More Exclusions Research Volunteer

Dear No More Exclusions Volunteer,

Thank you for your email providing further clarification on Section 8(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Our initial response indicated that the use of a pseudonym would normally invalidate requests.

E-ACT is aware that organisations can submit requests under FOIA. As this request has been submitted via “What do they know” – which is a third-party platform for FOIA requests – we are unable at present, to validate whether the request is from No More Exclusions, as the email address provided and the use of a pseudonym does not provide us with a reasonable prospect of being able to identify the requester, as noted in the ICO Code of Practice.

We are happy to manage your request in accordance with our obligations under FOIA, however, in order for us to verify whether the request is ‘valid’, and that the identity of the requester is genuine, we would ask that you send a response to this email – confirming the request is from No More Exclusions using a No More Exclusions email address.

Once we receive this, we will be happy to action your request. Please let us know if you need any further clarification or have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Oli Killeen
