Rua reidh lighthouse:Cross agancy efforts to resolve this situation

The request was successful.

Dear Highland Council,
It is today reported on social media that there is 'cross-agency' effort being made to resolve the 'situation' at Rua Reidh lighthouse. I presume that to mean an effort to resolve the access problems, roads problems and 'attacks' on individuals going near to the lighthouse all of which you are aware of.

From the information you hold can you say if Highland Council is involved in this cross agency effort and if so what has been done so far by those involved or what is planned?

Yours faithfully,

Guy Kerry

Freedom of Information, Highland Council

Dear Mr Kerry,

Thank you for contacting The Highland Council.

I refer you to your original request in the email dated 16 April 2018. Please accept my apologies that you haven't had a response so far.

We have made enquiries as to whether the situation in relation to the lighthouse has changed, and our staff are not aware of any change in the circumstances. However, as you have mentioned reports on social media, it would be helpful if you could send us further details so we can confirm that this is the case.

If you could send links to the relevant reports I will check with our staff whether there is any further information we can provide you.

Kind Regards

Dear Freedom of Information,
Thank you for this. I dont want you to spend too much time searching out an answer to this. I am aware that the Access Officer has done nothing since last September and roads management have declared to me that they have done as much as they want to do and that its futile to do more despite the legal responsibilities to keep roads open.

The quote is from Sophia Shafi on the facebook page 'Gairloch and Surrounding area forum'. Dated 16 April way down a thread she started, outlining the legal advice she has received after raising monies to challenge the McLachlans in the face of little action from the authorities including the council. She says at one point "Yes - the PF has been made aware, and there is a cross-agency effort being made to resolve this issue." She makes some argument that FOI would not reveal all that was going on. I didnt think there was such cross agency initiative since the police and council appear to have opposing ideas about the road and I had already been told by both council and police that nothing was being done at that time.

I would be content if you did no more than you have done already.

Yours sincerely,

Guy Kerry
