Dear Lothian & Borders Police,

This is a request for information submitted in accordance with the
provisions of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and
should be treated accordingly.

Please acknowledge receipt of this request.

In relation to the royal wedding held on 30 July 2011 I would like to know the following information which is probably recorded by the force:

1) The name allocated to the operation;
2) The rank and surname of all bronze level commanders;
3) The rank and surname of all silver level commanders;
4) The rank and surname of all gold level commanders;
5) The number of persons detained and or arrested in direct relation to the the royal wedding operation;
6) Details relating to any injuries acquired by persons acting on behalf of the force as part of this operation;
7) Details of any damage to police equipment that occured in relation to this operation.

I will hold of making any finance related request at this stage as Im sure the financial aspects will be the subject of a report to the joint police board within the very near future.

Despite assurances from Rachel Watson, Head of the Force Information Unit that where its requested, all correspondence would be acknowledged.

A phone call to the FIU a few minutes ago revealed that this request has been allocated to a staff member but the Steph at the FIU would not reveal why.

1. The operation name was Opal

2. The Bronze Commanders were as follows:

3. The Silver Commander was Superintendent Ivor Marshall. Other silver commanders were Supt MacKinnon, Supt Lynch and Supt Carradice

4. The Gold Commander was Assistant Chief Constable Ian Livingstone

5. There were two detainees, who were released without charge. There were no arrests.
6. There were no injuries recorded
7. There was no damaged property recorded
