Mr Pitaman-Willcock

Dear Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, on 10Jan22 my MP, Gagan Mohindra, asked Julia Lopez, the Secretary of State for DCMS, “what steps her Department is taking to support the rollout of superfast fibre broadband in South West Hertfordshire constituency.”

Ms Lopez answered, “Over 98% of premises in South West Hertfordshire can access superfast speeds (>=30Mbps).....

I live in the Hemel Hempstead town boundary and yet I cannot get superfast speeds at my house. That is because there is old copper (or aluminium) lines between my house and the Openreach cabinet which does have fibre.

I would like to refine the question to, "What steps is the Department of DCMS taking to support the rollout of superfast-fibre-broadband-to-the-premises in South West Hertfordshire constituency? In particular, how many (and what percentage ) of households in South West Hertfordshire can now readily get superfast-fibre-at-their-premises? "

Yours faithfully,

Michael Pitaman-Willcock
