Road Traffic Accident - 19/10/21

Leicestershire County Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Leicestershire County Council,

On 19/10/21 a serious RTA occurred in Hollycroft, Hinckley between Factory Road and Stanley Rd. Fire, ambulance & police services attended, 4 vehicles were involved (all subsequently written off), one person was taken to hospital & the driver who caused the mayhem ran off before the police arrived. The road was closed for several hours. But for a few minutes, one of my family members would have been seriously injured or worse.
Despite 2 attempts at traffic calming, speeding is still rife along this stretch of road, so I have tried to establish from the police the causes they have identified for this RTA and what, if any, steps they have taken to prevent a repetition. They have refused to provide the information saying that any comments they have in this area have been provided to LCC and directed me to you.
So, what information do you have, including from investigations that you may have undertaken yourselves?
Yours faithfully,

J Newman

Dear Leicestershire County Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Leicestershire County Council's handling of my FOI request 'Road Traffic Accident - 19/10/21'.

Your response is incorrect. Fire, police and ambulance services attended and one person was taken to hospital, so not "damage only" unless you treat personal injury as "damage". The fact that there were not more injuries was purely down to coincidence.

So,
1) Exactly what information do you have?
2) Please confirm whether or not you have undertaken an investigation and/or risk analysis to establish if this section of road requires some form of special attention to prevent repetition.

Yours faithfully,

J Newman

FOI, Leicestershire County Council
