Dear Peter Hall, ATISN 16511 – Moratorium on Road Projects
Thank you for your request which I received on [insert date]. You asked for:
How much money the Welsh Government has saved by implementing a
freeze on all new road building and improvement projects from June 2021 to
Following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the
information you require is not held by the Welsh Government. The reason for this is
that the moratorium on road building was enacted ahead of our roads review, which
is described here: Roads review | GOV.WALES
Although many roads projects have been frozen, their final status depends on the
results of the Roads Review which has not yet been completed. In cases where a
pause is lifted and a road project is continued, there will be no savings from the
freeze. In other cases there will be savings, but at this point Welsh Government does
not hold information on what those savings will be.
If you are dissatisfied with the Welsh Government’s handling of your request, you
can ask for an internal review within 40 working days of the date of this response.
Requests for an internal review should be addressed to the Welsh Government’s
Freedom of Information Officer at: Information Rights Unit, Welsh Government,
Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NQ or Email: Freedom.email@example.com
Please remember to quote the ATISN reference number above.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner. The
Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
Information Commissioner’s Office,
However, please note that the Commissioner will not normally investigate a
complaint until it has been through our own internal review process.
