Review of Criminal Legal Aid

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Ministry of Justice,

I write to request, pursuant to section 1 (1) Freedom of Information Act 2000, the details of the review ordered by the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, into the availability of criminal Legal Aid for appeals by those unlawfully at large. By unlawfully at large, I mean having absconded on bail, failed to attend their trial and/or sentencing or similar.

In particular I request details of, or communications about:

(1) The terms of reference of that review, including any stated aims, or outcomes sought;
(2) Whether it is anticipated that any changes to the Legal Aid system will require primary or secondary legislation;
(3) The identity, by way of job title rather than personal names (unless of sufficient seniority that their identity is already in the public domain or they are ministers) of those who are to conduct the review; and,
(4) The actual, or anticipated date by which the review will be completed.

Yours faithfully,
Matthew Jackson

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Please can you confirm receipt of my Freedom of Information request?

Yours faithfully,
Matthew Jackson
