Revenge Porn Offences

The request was partially successful.

Dear Avon and Somerset Constabulary,

I am writing to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

For the years 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and for 2022 to date, please tell me:

How many reports of "revenge porn" offences did you receive?

How many of these cases resulted in a suspect being charged?

How many of these cases resulted in a conviction?

Many thanks,
Jenna Durant

Dear Jenna Durant

Re: Request for information dated 5^th May 2022 under the Freedom of
Information Act

I write in connection with your above request where you asked:

For the years 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and for 2022 to date, please tell me:

 1. How many reports of "revenge porn" offences did you receive?

 2. How many of these cases resulted in a suspect being charged?

 3. How many of these cases resulted in a conviction?

Our response:

Please find the information requested in questions 1 and 2 in the table
below:

Occurrence
Created
Financial Crime Arrest Occurrence OC01 -
Year count count   count Charge/Summons
2019/2020 117 7   2019/2020 3
2020/2021 136 13   2020/2021 4
2021/2022 196 7   2021/2022 5
2022/2023 30 1   Sum: 12
Sum: 479 28

With reference to question 3, our crime recording system only holds
results back from magistrates’ courts. We understand that crown court
results are held on a Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) system.  As such we
have not included the prosecution outcomes in our response because they
will be misleading, instead we have included the number of crimes that
resulted in a charge or summons.  You may be able to obtain the
prosecution outcome data by going on to the CPS [1]website.

The CPS also have a Freedom of Information publication scheme which you
can view by clicking on this [2]link.

You may wish to make a Freedom of information request to the CPS
yourself.  Requests may be made by email to [email address] or in writing
