Dear Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service,

1 I would like to know the names, job titles and locations of all members of staff who are designated as “Watch Control Officers ” and any staff senior to them in the Service
( note these are as referenced in Schedule 4 of the Investigatory Powers Act )

- SFRS does not have any staff designated as "Watch Control Officers"

With regard to questions 1 and 2, the wording in the Act the 'minimum
office, rank or position' of a DSO (Designated Senior Officer) is stated
as a 'Watch Manager (Control)'. At SFRS we have designated our Area
Managers with this responsibility. In this respect the names, job titles
and locations are as follows: John Das-Gupta, Area Manager Head of Service
Delivery, Kevin Faulkner Temporary Area Manager Operations and Risk, Andy
Perry Area Manager Operations and Risk, John Harrison Temporary Area
Manager Training. All the officers except for John Harrison are located at
our Headquarters in Shrewsbury. John Harrison is located at our Training
Centre in Telford. To view the full senior management team please select

3.I would like to know what training has been given to members of staff
responsible for application of the Investigatory Powers Act or what
training is planned. - All our Senior Management Team, which includes the
Area Managers, have undertaken an online training course on the
Investigatory Powers Act, which will include ongoing maintenance training
on a three yearly basis.

4.I would like to know what guidelines have been issued to members of
staff about the Investigatory Powers Act - The Brigade Order outlining the
Act and procedures has been developed and will be published shortly. An
automated request and approval procedure for covert surveillance has been
created and is available to the relevant members of staff.
