Request for UPRN and BA references for business premises

Gwrthodwyd y cais gan Northampton Borough Council.

Dear Northampton Borough Council,

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please would you provide me with a dataset comprising the UPRN (Unique Property Reference Number) and the BA Reference (Billing Authority Property Reference Code)* relating to all business premises which are currently identified in your local authority's area for rating purposes. As I understand the UPRN is a key component of your Local Land and Property Gazetteer.

I do not want any further information, just a dataset (contained within an Excel spreadsheet, or as a comma separated text file) comprising these two references.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Craggs

Requests, Northampton Borough Council

Good afternoon Mr Craggs

The actions of a small minority of fraudsters who have taken advantage at
a time of national crisis resulted in all Northamptonshire Council’s
agreeing to remove the NNDR datasets from public view between 5^th and
6^th June. The data will be put back online once the current and any
future COVID19 business rate grant process has closed and all risk of
fraud against this process locally and nationally has been eliminated. The
Council will not elaborate on how the data has been fraudulently used
against some Council’s however it was imperative that the data was removed
from public view from all Northamptonshire Council’s immediately to remove
any risk of the same techniques being used here.

At this point the Northamptonshire Council’s cannot guarantee when the
NNDR datasets will be republished or indeed if they will be republished in
the same format going forward. The decision to republish will be taken in
consultation with our local and national business rate colleagues and will
likely be done simultaneously.

I am also sorry to advise that for now no data will be provided to any
specific requests for NNDR data from individuals or companies until such a
time as the risk of it being used fraudulently has been eliminated.

The Council thanks you for your patience at this time.
