Request for some usage statistics.

Dear sir or madam.

Under the Freedom Of Information Act could i please request a copy of the current annual tram stop usage statistics for each and every West Midlands Metro tram stop that shows the total amount of entries and exits per year. So for each and every tram stop i would like a single figure showing the total usage (total amount of entries and exits) in one year.

I would preferably like this information for the period of between 01/01/2018 to 31/12/2018 (all of 2018). However if you don't have statistics for this period then just provide me with the most recent ones you have as long as it is still a 12 month period.

Thank you for your email requesting information under the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act, which we received on 1 January 2019. For
ease of reference, we will set out each of your requests followed by our
response.

The annual tram stop usage statistics for each and every West Midlands
Metro tram stop that shows the total amount of entries and exits for the
period 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018.

Midland Metro Limited captures data about the usage of our network which
is monitored closely by the senior leadership team as well as the Midland
Metro Board and West Midlands Combined Authority as owners of the network.

 

Data relating to the number of customers that travel with us is collected
through the ticket machines that are used by our customer service
representatives on board our trams and the door counters that are fitted
to every door on each of our trams.

 

Please find attached a document which contains the number of passengers,
recorded by the door counters, that board and alight the tram at each of
our stops.

 

As an organisation, we do not actively record the number of passengers
according to the stop that they board and alight our tram and therefore
the accuracy of the data for each location is not verified.

 

I trust that I have provided the information that you have requested in a
suitable format. However, if you are dissatisfied with the way in which we
have handled your request, you have the right to ask us to review it. You
should make your request for a review within 40 working days of receipt of
this letter, and we will provide our review within 20 working days of
receipt.

 

If, following review, you remain dissatisfied with the handling of your
request you have the right under section 50 of the Freedom of Information
Act 2000 to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
