I refer to your Freedom of Information request regarding the above in which you asked:

"I would like to know whether or not the Nicklaus Joint Venture Group pays tax in the UK. As part of the due diligence process this information should be known to the Council."

Wirral Council can advise that The Nicklaus Joint Venture Group (NJVG) is a UK registered company and as such will be subject to UK Tax on all its activities in line with UK Tax regulations. The detail of the tax affairs of individuals and companies is ultimately a confidential matter between the company concerned and HMRC.

In this case however research shows for the purposes of tax the NJVG is currently classed as a non-trading company and as such has paid no UK tax to date. Tax is paid on profits so this will be a matter for future returns if and when the Hoylake golf resort project progresses and trading activity is generated.
