Wandsworth Request for Information - 2021/3837 - Policies for older people

I refer to your request for information received on 08/01/2021.  Please
see the information below and attached in response to your request: -

 1. Any council strategies for older people (defined as over 60) in your
Borough?

The most recent Wandsworth Older People’s Strategy was produced in 2015
and was a 5-year strategy.

Public Health in partnership with ASC has commissioned intergenerational
activities as part of the new Wandsworth Age Well services in Battersea
and Roehampton.  The purpose is to provide intergenerational activities
that would contribute to improvement in older peoples’ health and
wellbeing.  The provision of intergenerational activities have been
disrupted by COVID-19 pandemic and will be revisited when guidance says it
is safe to do so.  The strategic objectives to be delivered from existing
community settings include:

·         Reducing social isolation

·         Increasing contribution to the community

·         Improving physical activity and healthy eating

·         Equipping service users with skills required for later life
including digital skills

·         Supporting residents who are unpaid carers

·         Co-producing intergenerational activities/ interventions and
whole family approaches to help deliver above outcomes

·         Physical self-care and health awareness related to aging

·         Increased participation by BME groups in preventative
activities

·         Increased levels of independence

·         Increased community action to improve health and well-being of
older residents

There was a Dementia Needs Assessment for Wandsworth produced in 2019,
please find copy attached.

 2. Any consultation documents on the needs of older people and services
for older people in the Borough?

The Adult Social Care Commissioning Team undertakes engagement with
service users and the local community when re-designing services, and has
not any formal consultation documents as the approach has been of
engagement (sharing information, our plans and seeking feedback).

 3. Research documents on older people’s needs in the Borough?

Please see Wandsworth Dementia HNA at:
[1]https://www.datawand.info/dementia/

 4. Any assessments of the impact of Covid and lockdown on older people in
the Borough?

Please note that Wandsworth Council does not hold this information.

 5. Recovery Plans for the Borough moving beyond the covid pandemic?

Adult Social Services has initiated the Transforming the Future
Programme.  Information was presented to our Adult Care and Health
Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 12/11/2020 and is available on the
Council’s website at:
[2]https://democracy.wandsworth.gov.uk/ieLi...

 6. Any specific plans for recovery plans for older people post covid
pandemic?

Please see our response above, this is for all care groups.
