Request for a list of all care homes in England

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Care Quality Commission,

Until October 2011 I was able to produce a list of all care homes in England by searching for homes starting with A,B etc. on your website.

Since changes that you made to your website at the end of October 2011 this has not been possible.

We have made enquiries through your website asking for this information but no reply has been received.

Please could you provide a regularly updated directory of all of the care homes in England including their reference number beginning 1- in the form of a spreadsheet, text file or a list on a web page.

Yours sincerely,

Matthew Walker

Our Ref: Information Request CQC IAT 2012 0105

Dear Mr Walker,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 27 January 2012 containing an information
access request in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

You requested:

“Until October 2011 I was able to produce a list of all care homes in
England by searching for homes starting with A,B etc. on your website.

Since changes that you made to your website at the end of October 2011
this has not been possible.

but no reply has been received.

Please could you provide a regularly updated directory of all of the care

form of a spreadsheet, text file or a list on a web page.”

The Information Access Team has now processed your request and I can
confirm that the Commission does hold information in relation to this
matter.

A spreadsheet is attached for your information which lists all current
registered care home locations in England.

I have consulted with my colleagues from our Intelligence directorate who
have advised that CQC data base is updated each month, but we do not have
the capacity to manage regular mail outs.

If you do require regular updates you can make a request each month
directly to our Data Requests team through
[1][email address]

I have also consulted with my colleagues within our Digital Communications
team, who manage the CQC website, who have confirmed that there are plans
to introduce a facility on our website which will allow individuals to
directly download information of this nature. They expect this function to
be available at the end of February.

I hope that you have found this response helpful. If you are not satisfied
with the information that you have been provided with, then you may
request an internal review of the Commission’s handling of your
information request.

Please clearly indicate that you wish for an internal review and state the
reason for requesting the review. To request a review please contact:

functions.

Dear Mr Douglas,

Thank you very much for your comprehensive reply. I am satisified with this outcome and it should give me all of the data that I need.

I have asked the whatdotheyknow website team to unobscure the email address of the data requests team in your reply so that I can contact them if necessary.

Best regards,

Matthew Walker

I am very interested in this FOI because one of the service providers is Starfish and I have been referred by my GP to services provided by this company. I have not been happy in the past with services I have recieved from the company Staffordshire County Council used to provide for victims of child abuse, and am not happy with the way Starfish Health and Wellbeing is operated, because there is no way of checking the credentials and suitability of the service providers.
