Dear Office of Gas and Electricity Markets,

On 24 June 2013 Romney Weir low-head hydropower scheme was commissioned. I believe that it is named Virginia Station.

The developer has reported that it was only generating 200 kW as against the design power output of 300 due to "low river levels".

Since this installation is designed for the developer to receive feed-in tariffs - the developer explained to a party from Marlow that the feed-in tariffs were the only reason he was involved - can you please let me know how many kWh have been generated since 24 June 2013 and may I have a record of the daily output since commissioning? If these records are not available via OFGEM, will you please inform me where they may be found.

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Mike Post

Hi Mike,

I have checked with our Feed in Tariff team and we do not hold this information for individual small generating stations.

The supply company that pays the particular generator will be the source for the information.

I have completed a quick search of the FIT register to see if I can ID the scheme (and therefore the company that administers it for FIT). Given the location (Marlow) I'd expect this to be identified from an SL (slough) postcode. I can't however find any hydro stations on our listing with a postcode that's SL so either it's just out of that postcode or it's not registered with us yet.

Dear Paul,

The Romney Weir station is in Windsor. It is called
Virginia Station.

Does that help you?

Yours sincerely,

Mike Post

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately we don't record by name, just postcode this is because the bulk of FIT stations are privately owned. If Virgina Station is in SL4 (which appears to be the code for Windsor) it's not listed.

Regards

Paul

Dear Paul,

The Company is

ROMNEY HYDROPOWER COMPANY LIMITED
07123788
Registered Address: Melita House 124 Bridge Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 8LA

It supplies electricity to Windsor Castle

Does that help?

Yours sincerely,

It might - I'll ask the FIT team if they have any more information.
