I am writing to acknowledge that your request for information was received
by The Information Centre on 16/06/2010.

May I take this opportunity to explain the Freedom of Information Act in
more detail. The Act defines a number of exemptions which may prevent the

Information Centre will assess your information request in light of the

the information you have requested, unless the cost of dealing with your
request is more than **450. If it appears likely that your request will
cost more, I will write to you again asking if you are willing to pay the
fees incurred, clearly setting out what those fees will be (in accordance
with the Freedom of Information Act).

with your request the Information Governance team have asked for some
clarification.

Please could you clarify what you mean by 'events'? Does this mean
breaches in security that have been reported to the Information
Commissioner and in which case does the scale of 0-5 refer to the
severity?

Dear Ian,

thanks for your response. An "event" is any incident that has given cause to have to report a breach to the Information Commissioner.

The 0-5 levels were defined in Cabinet Office guidance to reflect the severity, including numbers of persons involved, the type of data and whether the media were involved.
