Freedom of Information, Cleveland Police

Dear Mr Wilding,

Enquiry Ref:10654/2019

I write in relation to your request for information regarding reports of knives in schools. We have been advised by the analysts tasked with retrieving this information that they can provide information pertaining to validated crimes of 'Possession of an Offensive Weapon in a school' however to try and retrieve just an article with a blade or point would require the manual retrieval and reading of each crime report to identify if both the location and the type of weapon was recorded and it is estimated that for a single year it would take in excess of the stipulated time of 18 hours.

To enable us to respond to your request please advise if information pertaining to validated crimes of 'Possession of an Offensive Weapon in a school' is acceptable to you or alternatively indicate how we may otherwise assist you. Unfortunately we are unable to respond to your request until we have received this information.

If you would like to discuss this matter please do not hesitate to contact this office on 01642 306825 or 01642 306832.

Yours sincerely
