Report on appropriate adult provision
Dear Children’s Commissioner for England,
Please could you update us on when the Children's Commissioner report on appropriate adult provision is due to be published.
In 2015/16 the Children Commissioner for England submitted an information request to all Youth Offending Teams in England which asked for: details of their appropriate adult provision; how it was delivered; and what might be improved. The information request also asked for non-identifiable case level data for children who had been arrested and held in police stations in their area, including details of the amount of time they spent in police custody and the delay in an appropriate adult being provided.
The findings that were derived from the information request were written into a report, along with associated work on the provision of non-familial appropriate adults. Our understanding is that the report was written more than a year ago, however it still has not been published.
Yours faithfully,
The Standing Committee for Youth Justice (SCYJ)
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request which we received on the
