What remedy was put into place after the confiscation of gold and silver that backed our currency/bank notes.

They never answered the question in full as to what happened after the link with gold was broken after 1931. What happened to all the gold that the public had within the banks. After 1931, did anybody's grand parents receive their gold back from the banks, or did they get some kind of exemption? If the public didn't get their gold back then they must have got an exemption "from money and paying bills". How can you a pay a bill if you don't have legal and lawful money (gold or silver) backed without anything of intrinsic value.
