Rehousing Out of Area

Gwrthodwyd y cais gan Chichester District Council.

Dear Chichester District Council,

I would like information about the numbers of homeless households being moved both out of and into the local authority area and where they are being moved to and from. I am aware from your reporting requirements to central government that you hold this information but only part of it is released through DCLG statistical updates.

I understand that under Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 there is a duty to assist and advise the requester and would appreciate your advice if you think my questions need any clarification in order to get the information that I am looking for.

Please disclose the following information:

1. For each year since 2010, please provide a month by month breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local authority has rehoused in another local authority area. For each household rehoused, please indicate:

- the total number of people rehoused

- the local authority area they were moved to

- whether this was temporary or settled accommodation

- whether they were allocated either council / social housing or a private rental tenancy

2. For each year since 2010, please provide a month by month breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local authority has agreed to rehouse from another local authority area. For each household rehoused, please indicate:

- the total number of people rehoused

- the local authority area they were received

- whether this was temporary or settled accommodation

- whether they were allocated either council / social housing or a private rental tenancy.

Yours faithfully,

David Adams

Dear David Adams

Thank you for your request for information under the Council’s Freedom Of
Information Act

With regards to your request asking for all information held :
[1]cid:image006.png@01D3C1D2.6B3BF220

this request is too general to enable the Council to obtain that data
easily or efficiently,  and I estimate based on my experience of similar
matters that it  would cost the Council more than the statutory limit to
consider your request.

The appropriate cost limit is specified in regulations and for the Council
this is set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person
spending 2½ working days in determining whether the Council hold the
information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
Consequently the Council is not obliged under Section 12 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 to respond to your request and we will not be
processing your request further as it is simply too wide to investigate in
the statutory limits. If you narrow the scope of your request the Council
may be able to provide the information free of charge because it would
cost less than the appropriate limit to do so, although I cannot guarantee
that this will be the case unless the new enquiry is significantly
narrowed.

If you have any queries or concerns about this letter then please do not
hesitate to contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number
above in any future communications.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review.  Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original letter and should be addressed to Jane Dodsworth, Head of
Business Improvement Services.

Kind regards

Jenny Jones
