Dear Dom Schade

Thank you for your email below in which you ask for the handbook for Registration Officers.

Your request is being handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
It is not clear from your email exactly what information you require. To help us to deal with your request properly, I would be grateful if you could clarify it. There is no single handbook for Registration Officers. Guidance to Registration Officers is provided on separate subject topics. In order to assist you, please specify what information you require.

Once you provide this information, we will aim to send you a full response to your request within twenty working days.

Yours sincerely

Her Majesty's Passport Office

Dear FOI,

If the information i asked for is not contained in a single handbook but in multiple documents then very obviously you will need to supply a copy of those documents ("subject topics').

Yours sincerely,

Dominik Schade

Dear Mr Schade

I am writing further to our below email, about your request for information. Your request is being handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

We are considering your request. Although the FOIA carries a presumption in favour of disclosure, it provides exemptions which may be used to withhold information in specified circumstances. Some of these exemptions, referred to as ‘qualified’ exemptions, are subject to a public interest test. This test is used to balance the public interest in disclosure against the public interest in favour of withholding the information. The FOIA allows us to exceed the 20 working day response target where we need to consider the public interest test fully.

The information which you have requested is being considered under the exemption in section 31 of the FOIA, which relate to investigations and prejudice to law enforcement. This is a qualified exemption and to consider the public interest test fully we need to extend the 20 working day response period. We now aim to let you have a full response by 29/11/2018

Yours sincerely

Her Majesty's Passport Office
