Dear Michael,

Thank you for your request for information which has been dealt with under
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please find answers to your questions set out below (shown in order as put
and responses in navy font):

- The number of households who received refuse waste collections in 2018,
2019 and 2020

This exact information is not recorded i.e. we don’t have a requirement to
keep a total of the properties that we empty bins from.  An estimation
would be circa 36,000 properties.

- The cost of refuse collection operations for financial years 2018 -
2019, 2019 - 2020 and 2020 – 2021

The figures shown for our waste collections contractor are a total cost of
this service which includes all waste streams; dry recyclables, residual,
food and garden waste from wheeled bins at households, plus collection of
bulky items.  We do not hold separated figures:

Financial Period          Sum

2018/19                       £2,007,500

2019/20                       £2,041,700

2020/21                       £2,057,998

- The percentage of bins missed during refuse collection rounds in 2018,
2019 and 2020

We record the missed bins figures, rather than percentage of those
collected;  Missed bins for 2018 = 1632, 2019 = 1975 and 2020 = 1810.
However, we can advise that the total number of bins collected annually
across these periods averages at 3,433,272 and so you can calculate
accordingly on this basis (eg. 0.05%).

This information is made available to you for re-use under the terms of
the Open Government Licence for public sector information, unless
otherwise stated, and subject to conditions as described at the following

the way in which your request for information has been dealt with, you can

Democratic Services, Rochford District Council, South Street, Rochford SS4

it will take longer.
