Your Internal Review:

I am writing to request an internal review of Stoke on Trent City
Council's handling of my FOI request 'Recruitment and retention: British
Muslims'

• How many Muslims have you recruited since 2010?
• How many have held media/communications roles?

Internal Review Investigation and Findings:

As part of this internal review the Council has reviewed the initial
response that was provided to your request for information. We can confirm
that the initial response provided to your request was accurate.  However,
as part of your internal review you amended the scope of your request
slightly.  When the service received your updated request, they were able
to seek some recruitment information from our HR department.  Therefore we
are now able to provide you with an updated response based on this
information.

You will note that some of the information has been withheld under section
40(2) (third party personal data) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
and will not be provided.  This is because as some of the numbers are
small and there is a risk that releasing this information could result in
specific individuals being identified.  To add information about ethnicity
constitutes special category data and therefore the Council has to ensure
that it is afforded greater protection.  The Council is not required to
release information into the public domain that could result in unfair
processing in connection to an individual, as this would also be a breach
of the principle 1 of the Data Protection Act 2018.

• How many Muslims have you recruited since 2010

Please find the information that has been located below:

For your information, the figures we have provided are reliant upon what
has been declared by employees regarding their religion, so is very much
reliant upon what the employee has informed of their religion on
employment.  True figures may be very different than what we can determine
from gathered data.

For your information, the figures we have provided are reliant upon what
has been declared by employees regarding their religion, so the only
information we have is where an employee has voluntarily declared it.
Actual figures may be very different than what we can determine from the
gathered data.

·         How many have held media/communications roles?

We can confirm that based on the information we have in relation to
employees that have declared this information, none of the job titles we
have located indicated a Media/Communications role.

If you have any queries about this email, please do not hesitate to
contact us.

The information supplied may be used for domestic or journalistic
purposes. Its use for commercial gain including issuing to the public may
be subject to the issue of a licence under the Reuse of Public Sector
Information Regulations 2015.

If you are not content with the outcome of this internal review you can
make a complaint to the Information Commissioner.
