Dear Mr Khan

I refer to your request for an Internal Review relating to your FOI
reference number BFR001719.

Your original FOI was received on 11 March 22.  You requested the
following information:-

1. How many British Pakistani employees have you recruited? Please provide
figures for every year since 2010.

2. What is the average length of service?

3. How many British Pakistanis have you employed in communications/media
roles since 2010?

The Council responded on 25 March 22, providing the following information,
I have highlighted the responses in blue for ease of reference:-

1. How many British Pakistani employees have you recruited? Please provide
figures for every year since 2010.   Please note the Council only holds
information regarding your request for staff who have not left.  Also
please note half of the Council’s staff choose not to declare their
religion.  The Council employed one in 2014 and one in 2017, one in 2019
and one in 2021 who still work for us.

2. What is the average length of service?  A response cannot be provided
to this as the Council does not have the records for the staff who have
left.

3. How many British Pakistanis have you employed in communications/media
roles since 2010? ?  A response cannot be provided to this as the Council
does not have the records for the staff who have left.

You requested an Internal Review on 26 March 22, in which you said, “ I am
writing to request an internal review of Broxbourne Borough Council’s
handling of my FOI request “recruitment and retention: British Pakistanis.
Please review if you have the information for Q2 and 3”.

I have now conducted an Internal Review of the way your FOI was handled by
the Council and I consider the Council dealt with your FOI appropriately.
The Freedom of Information Act doesn’t require organisations to create
records but only to respond with the information it holds at the date of
the request.  The Council is therefore unable to provide the information
in response to questions two and three because it does not hold
information regarding staff that have left.  You could rephrase your
request so that it relates to current employees.

I hope I have satisfactorily dealt with your request for an Internal
Review, please let the Council know if it can be of further assistance.

Kind regards

Nathalie Boateng
