Dear Church of England,My sister & I were in an Anglican convent in Saint Albans in 1949-51
Could you advise me where, if possible, I could find the information I am looking for as to why we were sent there from our home in Newcastle? I have tried many many sources without success. The one convent that I found was All Saints London Colney. I have contacted them on a number of occasions over the years but they do not know what happened to the records.I feel sure that this is the convent as I was around 4 at the time and remember parts of it.I wouldbe grateful if any light could be shed on my request.

Yours faithfully, Mrs Margaret Mitcheson

Dear Church of England Good Afternoon, Could I ask you again to please look at my request for information for the dates of between 1949-51 for All Saints convent in St Albans?
As I was baptised in a C of E Church this is the only Anglican convent that I am aware of in the area.
My younger sister and I were sent there from our home in Newcastle upon Tyne. I was about 4/5 my sister 3/4
Although we knew we were there we were never given any reason or explanation as to why.
However, it has now appeared that my late mother may have had a baby to a man other than my father-we have also found out that this man also fathered my sister who was with me.
I am trying to piece everything together and to see if a birth certificate that I have located may or may not be a half sibling.
I have tried every avenue and had a researcher look into this, to me, a vital part of my life without success.
I really would appreciate your help in this matter before it is to late as I am not getting any younger.
Thank you, Mrs.Margaret Mitcheson

Yours faithfully,

Margaret Mitcheson

Dear Margaret,

Thank you for your email. I understand your need to find out more information relating to your family history, however Church House, Westminster is not a centre of records, so I am not able to look into your request personally. May I suggest you contact The Church of England Record Centre (CERC) which is part of Lambeth Palace Library. CERC keep a large number of historical records so may be able to provide further information. CERC also employ dedicated archivists, who will be able to give you a steer as to how you might source the information you are seeking.
