Dear Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Coroner Service,

I hope you are well.

I am a family historian looking to find out more about the suicide of Charles Cousins of 25 Wisbech Road, Thorney 22 July 1935. Is it possible to have a copy of the inquest notes, please?

Yours faithfully,

Helen Parker-Drabble

Good morning Helen,

I have made several enquiries and the only information we hold is a
newspaper article.

I hope this helps in some way

Kind Regards

Lynsey

Dear Lynsey,

I have had a look through the Cambridgeshire Times and I have found an
article about the suicide of Charles Cousins. While it isn’t just a full
print of the coroners report, it does provide a good account of the
suicide.

I hope this is what you were after! If not, Peterborough Archives should
hold a contemporary Peterborough newspaper which could also have a report.

Best regards,

Dear Lynsey

I have had the opportunity to search on our electronic catalogue and I
regret there is coroner’s inquest for Charles Cousins.  This is because
the records for the district of Wisbech (which includes Thorney) have not
survived for the years you are looking for.  You do not mention if the
enquirer may have searched for old newspapers.  Often inquests were
published and details of these can be found in the local studies library.
In this instance it would be best to contact Susanah Farmer, local studies
librarian at [5][email address]

Yours sincerely

Dear Lynsey,

I have checked our records for 1935 and 1936 but I'm afraid I cannot find
an inquest report for Charles Cousins (or anyone with a similar name).
Have you tried Cambridgeshire Archives?

Kind regards,

Paul
