Thyer, Anne, Commission on Human Medicines

Dear Mr Howe

The MHRA is the body responsible for replying to queries concerning the
outcome of such consultations and so I am replying to your FOI request
concerning an update on proposals to extend Patient Group Directions to
dental therapists and hygienists. The MHRA sought CHM's views in February
and a summary of their consideration is on our website [link attached]

[1]http://www.mhra.gov.uk/home/groups/l-cs-...

CHM's recommendations were endorsed by Ministers and the necessary
legislative changes have been drawn up for Parliamentary scrutiny. I do
not know at the moment when the changes will come into force due to the
imminent Parliamentary recess and the timing of any announcement about the
forthcoming election. Once that is clear it will be posted as an update
to MLX362 on our website.

[Incidentally, you might like to use the following form when sending any
future FOI requests to the MHRA:
