Dear University of Wolverhampton,

Under duties arising from Section 71 of the Race Relations Act
[1976], as amended by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000,
public institutions including Higher Education Institutions, are
required to have due regard when carrying out their functions; as to
the need to:

a) Assess how their policies affect BME students and staff and
b) Arrange to publish their policy, and the results of assessments
and monitoring.

Please provide me with:

A copy of the Race Equality Impact Assessment outcomes to
include:

(a) University of Wolverhampton’s screening policies or legislative
proposals to determine whether they are relevant to race equality?

(b) how policies identified as being relevant are fully assessed in
order to make sure they do not have adverse effects on any racial
groups?

(c) the assessment outcomes in relation to University of Wolverhampton’s grievance and disciplinary policies for staff and similarly in regard to complaints investigation procedures relating to students?

(d) the number of racial discrimination complaints /allegations /notifications brought by students over the past three academic years 2018/19, 2017/18, 2016/17

(e) the number of those claims at point (d) that proceeded to a full disciplinary investigation and the decision outcomes of those procedures please?

(f) in regard to new GDPR legislation, since 2018 how many University staff within The School of Media have been disciplined, for failing to meet the University’s obligations under GDPR 2018 legislation to date?

(g) how many race discrimination claims has the university received over the past three academic years?

In accordance with Section 1(3)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
I require further information from you regarding the scope of your
application.

 

In order for the University of Wolverhampton to process your request,
could you clarify clearly what you mean by the following:

 

the assessment outcomes in relation to University of Wolverhampton’s
grievance and disciplinary policies for staff and similarly in regard to
complaints investigation procedures relating to students?

 

Would you like a list of outcomes from complaints made about staff and
students or are you requesting something else?  If you would like a list
of outcomes, could you please specify a date range.

 

The University is not obliged to proceed with your application until the
requested information has been received.

 

Your application will be placed on hold until this information has been
received, and the timeframee of 20 working days to deal with your
application in accordance with the Act, will be temporarily stopped,
recommencing once a response has been received.
