Dear Department of Education (Northern Ireland),

Please provide in accordance with Freedom of Information laws,

1) a list of all requests made between April 2012 and June 30, 2017, for access to data from the Pupil Level Annual Schools Census (PLASC) or Pupil Attainment Dataset, known together as the National Pupil Database (NPD) or equivalent.

For each request, please give:
- the date of the request,
- the customer organisation,
- the project aims behind the request,
- the level and type of access requested, and
- what the outcome of the request was.

2) Please provide statistics on all the statistical volume of Home Office and Police requests a) received and b) fulfilled to access pupil level data since March 2012 (if this volume is publicly available, where it is published):
- date of request
- volume of individuals' data requested /
- the volume of provided from the database

3) Any Memorandum of Understanding in place on January 1, 2016 and/or June 30, 2017 regards pupil data sharing with the Home Office.

4) Please confirm if nationality and country of birth data is collected from pupils in N. Ireland, and if so, the date it was first collected, and the name of the database in which it is stored.

I wish to confirm that the Department has now completed its search for the
information which you requested on 3 July 2017.  The response to your
questions are as follows:

 

1) a list of all requests made between April 2012 and June 30, 2017, for
access to data from the Pupil Level Annual Schools Census (PLASC) or Pupil
Attainment Dataset, known together as the National Pupil Database (NPD) or
equivalent.

 

For each request, please give:

- the date of the request,

Analytical Services Unit within the Department of Education (NI) does not
keep a record of every single request for data.

- the volume of provided from the database

 

Analytical Services Unit within the Department of Education (NI) does not
keep a record of every single request for data, although it is known that
no data has been supplied to the Home Office or Police in this time
period.

 

3) Any Memorandum of Understanding in place on January 1, 2016 and/or June
30, 2017 regards pupil data sharing with the Home Office.

Neither nationality nor country of birth is collected for pupils in
Northern Ireland

to your request, you may ask for an internal review within two calendar
months of the date of this email.  You may write to the Departmental
