Public Entertainment Licence Johnstone Town Hall

We're waiting for Julia Muirhead to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Renfrewshire Council,

I would be grateful if you could provide me with a copy of the public entertainment license for the purposes of putting on stage productions for the above venue. I also request confirmation of the following -

1. Who or which body submitted the application. In terms of who, a description would be adequate eg private individual, a member of a group, a council representative etc

2. Does the existing license cover all events ( which require such a license) that take place within Johnstone Town Hall or specific ones and if so what are these ?

3. Was the funding for this license obtained from the Renfrewshire council annual budget ?

4. Is this a permanent license for the purpose of stage production or does it require to be applied for annually ?

5. If it requires to be applied for annually who or which body made the last application ?

Yours faithfully,
Julia Muirhead

if so what are these?

council annual budget?

Response

No public entertainment licence is held for Johnstone Town Hall, so we are
unable to produce a copy of such a licence. Under advice and assistance,
we can however confirm that the premises are covered by a premises licence
for the sale of alcohol under the terms of the Licensing (Scotland) Act
2005 and as such are exempt from the need for a public entertainment
licence for entertainment provided during their licensed hours, by virtue
of section 41(2)(f) of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.

1. As stated above, there is no public entertainment licence for the
premises. By way of advice and assistance, the liquor premises licence
referred to above has licence number PREM/500 and the name of the Licence
holder is Renfrewshire Leisure Limited.

Full details on the terms of this Licence can be accessed via the
Licensing Public Register available on our Website at the following link:

This information is therefore considered exempt under Section 25 of the
Act: Information otherwise accessible.

2. As above, there is no public entertainment licence. However, the
following Extract from the Operating Plan which forms part of the liquor
premises licence sets out the activities which may take place on the
premises: “Premises offering alcohol for consumption on the premises and
offering conferencing, restaurant facilities, receptions such as weddings,
funerals, birthdays, retirements etc, club meetings, recorded music, live
performances, dance facilities, theatre, films, indoor/outdoor sports.”

3. As above, there is no public entertainment licence.

4. As above, there is no public entertainment licence. For your
information, Premises licences for the sale of alcohol are perpetual.

5. N/A
