Provision of additional lab space due to the pandemic

Gwrthodwyd y cais gan University of Edinburgh.

Dear University of Edinburgh,

1. How many additional laboratory spaces were provided by the university in response to the pandemic? (for example how many spaces for student lab work were provided?)
2. What attempts were made to provide temporary lab spaces throughout the pandemic, e.g. Portakabin labs?
3. How much was spent on providing additional lab space throughout the pandemic?
4. What university-wide efforts were made to commandeer any unused/wasted lab spaces?
5. What attempts were made to use fully equipped, unused teaching laboratories as research labs?
6. Were MSc recruitment numbers reduced to ensure that existing research students have adequate space? Please also provide MSc recruitment statistics for the past 3 years, and estimates for the current year.
7. What consultation with research students/staff was undertaken to ensure that their needs for lab space were being adequately met throughout the pandemic?

Yours faithfully,
Jonathan Dennis
