Dear Public Prosecution Service Northern Ireland,

I would be grateful for statistics on prosecution decisions made under the following pieces of legislation for the years 2006/7 to 2009/2010.

1: The Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order 1987, as amended: PART III STIRRING UP HATRED OR AROUSING FEAR:
Acts intended or likely to stir up hatred or arouse fear by reference to religious belief, sexual orientation, disability, colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins;

and the number of prosecutions under

2: The Criminal Justice (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 (Increase in sentence for offences aggravated by hostility)by reference to religious belief, sexual orientation, disability, colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins;

Mr Glackin, thank you for your request for information dated 11th June
2010. In your request you had asked for the following:-

Statistics on prosecution decisions made under the following pieces of
legislation for the years 2006/7 to 2009/2010

STIRRING UP HATRED OR AROUSING FEAR:

Acts intended or likely to stir up hatred or arouse fear by reference to

and the number of prosecutions under

2: The Criminal Justice (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 (Increase in
sentence for offences aggravated by hostility)by

race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins;

In relation to part 1 of your request please see the attached spread
sheet which contains the relevant information for the financial years
2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09. Data for the financial year 2009/10 data is
not available at the present time subject to finalisation of the database
for the year.

In relation to part 2 of your request information on sentencing is a

I would be grateful if you could provide details of the statistics you provided byway of indicating on what grounds was the behaviour likely to stir up hatred i.e. race (Colour, race, nationality including citizenship or ethnic or national origins), religion, disability etc...
