Prosecution Costs for Wales in Bermuda Case

Foreign and Commonwealth Office Nid oedd gan y wybodaeth y gofynnwyd amdani.

Dear Welsh Government,

I ask to have explained, to be provided all information about, the prosecution of a local resident for offences committed in Bermuda. I wish to understand:
The decision to prosecute in Wales, not Bermuda
The cost of the proceedings in terms of resources and costs
How much Bermuda contributed to the cost
Who is pursuing recovery of the funds taken
Whether we will have funds reinstated
I note the Bermuda police did not attend but that an officer quoted is also named in the Paradise Papers according to a report at www.bermudapolice.com

Yours faithfully,

Rhys Evans

Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Dear Mr Evans,

Thank you for your email.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) does not hold any information on
the prosecution of local residents for offences committed in Bermuda.
Internal security is the responsibility of the Bermuda Government.

Dear Foreign and Commonwealth Office,

Bermuda Internal security is the responsibility of the Bermuda Government, appears obvious. Bermuda is a British island territory. I am told there is a Governor on the island and other representatives of the Queen. Are you telling me there was no liaison between Bermuda and your offices at all, that there are no records? I am surprised that the UK shows so little interest.
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Foreign and Commonwealth Office's handling of my FOI request 'Prosecution Costs for Wales in Bermuda Case'.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

Rhys Evans
