Progress on Wigan Armed Services Hub

FRED JONES made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for FRED JONES to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council,
I wish to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

It was announced that an Armed Services Hub would be built on land near to Trencherfield Mill.

1) Can you tell me how much money had been made available to provide that hub; from Wigan Council, from the Ministry of Defence and from the Sea Cadets Association? Was there the promise of any money from any other source?

2) Who decided that the hub would not be built near Trencherfield Mill, but would be accommodated in Wigan Market? On what grounds was that decision taken?

3) Was any of the money spent in preparation for the intended provision of the hub near Trencherfield Mill? eg Architects, Surveyors, etc? Did the MOD withdraw any of their money when they learned that the new build would not take place?

4) Has any of the money been spent in connection of the provision of the hub in the market?

5) What progress has been made in the market? What is your target date for the opening of the hub?

6) How much will it cost to relocate the stall holders in the market and where will this money come from?

7) What are the dimensions of the area in the market that will be allocated to the hub?

8) Who is responsible for overseeing the provision of the hub? Please give the names of the Councillor and the Council Officer.

9) How much money is left?

10) What provision have you made to keep the intended users of the hub up to date with progress? Please give dates of any meeting that you have had with the various armed services organisations and the dates of any meetings that you have planned.

Yours faithfully,

FRED JONES
