Dear Terrence,

Thank you for your request for information received by The University of
Manchester on 28 September 2020 which was as follows:

I am requesting for information for A106 medicine.

Can you provide the following information for graduates applying for A106
medicine in an excel sheet for year 2017, 2018 and 2019:

1) Home or International student

2) Nationality of the student

3) Title of Degree

4) Degree class (eg: 1st, 2:1)

5) Do they have Master or PHD? If yes, please provide the title of the
Masters or PHD and the result

6) UCAT score

7) SJT score

8) Are they invited for interview?

9) Did they received an offer?

The University has now considered your request and unfortunately the
information you are seeking cannot be provided at this time. We have
liaised with the Medical School and they have advised that they are unable
to access all of this data within the 18 hour ‘Appropriate Limit’ (as
defined in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate
Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004). This is because information in relation
to the title of the degree, degree class, and whether or not they have a
masters or a PhD is not transcribed from the application form and
therefore there is no automatic way of extracting this data. We would
instead need to read each individual application to collate this data. As
we receive thousands of applications each year, it would take far in
excess of 18 hours to complete this task. As a result, Section 12 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 applies and regrettably this task cannot
be undertaken at this stage. This email serves to act as a refusal notice
for this request, as per Section 17 (5) of the Act.

I can advise, however, that we publish statistical data in relation to
applications, interviews and offers as well as data in relation to UCAT
scores on our website at
[1]https://www.bmh.manchester.ac.uk/study/m... which you
may find of use.

If you feel that The University of Manchester has refused access to
information to which you are entitled, or has not dealt with your request
appropriately under the FOIA, you have a right of appeal.

An appeal in the first instance should be directed to the Information
Governance Office at [2][email address]. You should include:

·         details of your initial request

·         any other relevant information

You must make this appeal within 40 working days from receipt of your
response. We will not accept appeals received after this date, as per the
Freedom of Information Code of Practice, Section 5.3.

The University will deal with your appeal within a reasonable time, and
will inform you of the projected time scale on receipt of your complaint.
You are also welcome to contact the Information Governance Office with
informal questions about the handling of your request.

After The University’s internal appeals procedure has been exhausted, you
have a further right of appeal to the Information Commissioner’s
Office. Details of this procedure can be found at [3]www.ico.org.uk.

Kind regards

Sharon
