Graeme, National Library of Scotland

Dear Nicola

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request which the Library
received on 16 June 2010. You asked for information on the subject
of construction procurement frameworks, and I have answered each
question in turn, below:

1. How you procure Construction Consultancy Services

The National Library of Scotland uses the RBGE (Royal Botanic
Garden Edinburgh) framework for construction consultancy services.
This is a local collaborative framework.

Any minor ad hoc consultancy requirements are tendered for under
our standard procurement procedures which can be found on our
website at the following location:

http://www.nls.uk/about/procurement/inde...

2. How you procure Construction Contractors

For construction contracts below £10,000 we ask for quotes from
three different suppliers. For contracts from £10,000 to £49,000 we
invite tenders from at least 3 suitable suppliers. For contracts
over £50,000 we advertise on
http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/. Interested suppliers
can then complete a PQQ (pre qualification questionnaire). We draw
up a shortlist based on the responses and then proceed to tender.
Any construction contracts over £3.5 million go through the EU
procurement process.

3. If by your own framework, please tell me:

The National Library of Scotland does not operate its own
framework.
