Dear Gurpreet

I am writing in response to your request under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000; please see the answers to your questions below –

(i) Please specify the number of times the university has been contacted
by students who seek support or advice for gambling in 2017-18, 2016-17,
2015-16, 2014-15, 2013-14 (with an annual breakdown and gender breakdown
of the pupil)

Data not held.  We do not list gambling as a specific option for those who
have sought advice: we only keep a record of the general area of advice
requested e.g. finance.

(ii) Could you please outline the measures you have in place to support
students who seek help with problem gambling?

(a) We do host some support information on our website for example within
the web page
[1]http://www.studentsupport.manchester.ac.....

(b) Students can access some Hardship Funding if need be (e.g. under
threat of housing eviction). In such an example, we may make the payment
direct to the landlord to help the student.

(c) We may signpost the student to other specific external support
services (including our Students’ Union Advice Service).

I hope this information is useful.

Best wishes

Holly
