Dear Borders NHS Board,
On 13 March 2019, Dr Tim Patterson told the Scottish Parliament Health and Sport Committee:
"we currently spend about £25m in primary care prescribing and £10m in secondary care prescribing…which has gone up by 42% in the past four years.”
What percentage of these totals (£25 m in primary care and £10 m in secondary care) is spent on statin medication and on diabetes-related medication?
Could you also give a breakdown, please, of expenditure on the specific diabetes-related medications involved? eg insulin, metformin etc.
Thank you for your recent FOI enquiry, we will reply promptly and in any event, a response will be sent no later than 24 June 2019.
